BILOXI,
Miss. (April 20, 2004) — The
University of Mississippi Center for Continuing Legal Education will
sponsor Continuing Legal Education credits (CLE) at the upcoming
Southern Gaming Summit. People who attend any or all of the
four Conference seminars that are part of the Gaming Law track will
be eligible for general credit hours. A maximum of four credits can
be earned.
The
Gaming Law track features four sessions – two the morning of May 5
and two more the morning of May 6. The seminars are:
“What
You Don’t Know Will Hurt You”
– A panel of legal experts talk about the latest liability issues
and how to limit an operation’s exposure.
“The
Keys to Compliance”
– A panel discussion about a viable compliance model that explores
changes in federal law and the dynamics that separate the needs of
the gaming and restaurant sides of the business.
“Tribes
and Trusts”
– Land in trust has become a major vehicle for the expansion of
government gaming by Indian tribes, while presenting public policy
challenges for states and municipalities.
“Diversity
and Responsible Gaming: Doing the Right Thing”
– Reflecting its expanding role in the community and the economy,
the gaming industry is taking a more proactive approach in dealing
with issues of diversity and responsible gaming.
The
Conference program at the 11th Annual Southern Gaming
Summit – May 5-6 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention
Center – features 14 diverse educational seminars and two General
Sessions. Keynote speakers are Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour; MGM MIRAGE Chairman and CEO J.
Terrence Lanni; American Gaming Association President and CEO Frank
Fahrenkopf, Jr.; Isle of Capri President and COO Timothy M. Hinkley; IGT Chairman G. Thomas Baker; Deutsche Bank Securities Managing Director Marc
Falcone; National Indian Gaming Association Chairman Ernest
Stevens; and Boyd Gaming Corporation President Donald
D. Snyder.
