Gaming in Mississippi and Louisiana has rebounded from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, generating more than $5 billion in total gaming revenue during the 12 months ending June 30, 2008, or about 16% of the total gaming revenue in commercial US casino jurisdictions.
Mississippi is once again the third largest commercial casino jurisdiction in the US based on gaming revenue, behind only Nevada and Atlantic City. Louisiana still ranks as the fifth-largest jurisdiction.
Scenes from Southern Gaming Summit
Thank you for attending Southern Gaming Summit 2009!
The 16th annual Southern Gaming Summit was held May 6-7, 2009, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center in Biloxi.
Our expert speakers received rave reviews and our trade show floor was bustling. The rooms were packed for Gov. Haley Barbour's keynote speech and for our State of the Industry General Session. And the entertainment and networking was never better, with the welcome reception at the IP Casino Resort Spa and the Taste of the South reception showcasing the region's culinary experts.
